About The Glasgow Activity Zone

The Glasgow Activity Zone is the brainchild of Omid Najafian. When he saw the building back in 2007, he could see how it was perfect to provide exciting activities right in the heart of the city.

It took several years of hard work to get GAZ started but the vision is now a reality. With the arrival of Ryze, Performance Lab and now Laser Quest joining the original businesses, The Climbing Academy, Wonderworl and The Indoor Golf Academy there is tens of thousands of square feet of active space and thousands of people are visiting each month having fun, and keeping active.

Keep in touch with us here as we grow and transform the area.

About The Building

The building is the old News International factory, on Portman Street. It’s huge and has much more space available still to rent.

In the 1980s the building became the headquarters of the Scottish printing operations of Rupert Murdoch’s News International papers. When they moved out in 2008, the building was bought by A&G Property, with the vision of developing it into a mixed activity zone. Now, that vision is a reality, and there’s little left of NI.
